Victoria County History celebration event

To celebrate 120 years since the publication of its first volume, The Victoria County History of Essex (VCH) is holding an afternoon of fascinating lectures at the Galleywood Heritage Centre (close to the A12) on Saturday 23rd September.

There are talks about Essex in Domesday book, about an 11th-century hoard of coins from Braintree, and about the overseas seaborne trade of Harwich in the Tudor period. As well as the four talks there will be a very good afternoon tea half-way through, and a book sale.
